What makes our literacy program different from other programs? Quite simply, it’s our approach.
To ensure our literacy students experience success beyond books, we employ the Master Learners Program, which doesn’t just teach reading, but communication skills and the importance of forming personal values as well. Using the revolutionary Study Technology, a method developed by Mr. L. Ron Hubbard, and the Smart Way phonics and language arts curriculum, our literacy program can teach a child of any age to read and write in as little as three months.
Statistics show that we retain 90% of what we teach to others and only 10% of what is lectured to us. Our highly interactive literacy program embraces this approach and allows children to be both student and teacher for optimal retention.
Smart Way Phonics is the only language skills program which incorporates all nine of the crucial criteria for effective literacy improvement of the National Reading Panel, a group created at the request of Congress to assess the effectiveness of various approaches used to teach children to read. The successes of the program in teaching reading and responsibility to children and adolescents are extensive.
Since 1992, WLC has delivered our literacy program, the Master Learners Program, to more than 14,000 individuals. After just three months of instruction, 57% of program participants increased their reading aptitude by an average of 2.5 grade levels (according to a 2003 assessment).
