Chaka Khan Named Honored Compton Citizen

Chaka Khan, founder of the Chaka Khan Art Club, is named as an honorary citizen of Compton. Khan, pictured above with Danny Bakewell and Isadore Hall, established the group to teach area youth various art forms. “Art is the universal language that breaks through the barriers of race, time, language, creeds and economics,” says Khan. “I want to be able to bring children out of themselves and allow them to express themselves, using the different mediums of art.” The presentation followed a jazz concert where Khan and other jazz legends performed.

Drug Rehabilitation Clinic

World Literacy Crusade has just signed a contract with Los Angeles County to service low income individuals with a drug history in its comprehensive drug rehabilitation clinic.

American Health and Education Center is the only drug-free, out-patient detoxification program specializing in the treatment of teens, certified by the State of California.

Toxins such as street and pharmaceutical drugs, smog, lead, mercury and x-rays from microwaves, TV and sun become trapped in the fatty tissue of the body, causing cloudy thinking, flashbacks and drug cravings. We utilize the Narconon program to restore health and vitality to patients through the use of exercise, vitamins and dry heat sauna to remove drug residue from the body, thereby dramatically reducing the incidence of relapse into drug usage.
